Mo’s Blog: July 2016

moaswatIt’s been an incredibly busy time for the Mosaic team in June. Our key priority has been to support our BIDs going to ballot, and following on from our successes in Northern Ireland – we have seen Torbay Destination BID and Cardiff City Centre BID deliver a YES vote. With the declarations for Camberley, and Hampstead due in very soon, we would hope to be celebrating their results also.

Torbay Destination BID is Mosaic’s 78th successful ballot in the UK, and will see £3 million pounds of investment in Tourism for the region, a much needed and welcome boost to attract visitors to the beautiful coastal destination towns in the English Riviera.

Cardiff City Centre declared a YES vote on Friday 1st July, ensuring the City Centre will have over £7.5 million pounds worth of investment over the next 5 years.

We also continue the work with our partners in many other locations who are currently in the Feasibility and Development stages of their BID, supporting them and steering them towards a robust business plan and a successful ballot.

With over 200 BIDs in the UK and many more in the pipeline, it, was my pleasure to give a talk at the recent Revive & Thrive Huddersfield ‘Talking Towns’ event on ‘BIDs over the last 10 years’ and lessons learned in delivering them, across the UK and internationally. I also really enjoyed the tour of Blachere, and understanding more about what they do – inspiring company!

The next few months will see a period of growth for The Mosaic Partnership both as a company and in the work we do for Place Management. We are in discussion with partners in the UK and internationally, developing our services to reflect the direction the industry is likely to move. I look forward to sharing this knowledge with you in due course.

I will be spending the next month in Singapore, where we have been working with our partners for several years developing Singapore River One, one of the first true place management partnerships there. Having delivered a number of successful projects over 4 year, the organisation is now taking the first steps towards the BID model. I recently gave an interview on this which you can read here

More news on this next time.

In addition to our core work, we have had quite a number of people contacting us about the uncertainties around BREXIT. As a Place Management organisation, we feel it is important to keep abreast of this and provide some insight. Please read our article on this here and we would also be grateful if you can fill in our short survey We hope to give you further updates on this as time goes on.

So a busy time at Mosaic HQ, but please feel free to get in touch with us if you would like to discuss anything further. Our details can be found at Otherwise I look forward to meeting many of you at forthcoming events throughout the year.
